Bossypants-A Hot Summer Read
Bossypants is a satirical memoir by Tina Fey about her life as an up and coming comedian and eventual television star.
She talks about meeting her husband and their relationship as it progressed. She revisits writing and acting in Mean Girls, which just celebrated its 10 year anniversary, was explained. She also shares personal information, explains her awkward years and even makes fun of her former, chubby, self.
Fey also offers bits of advice, most which should be taken with a grain of salt, though some of it was genuinely good advice. “Don’t wear what fashion designers tell you to wear. Wear what they wear.” Was one bit of advice that struck me as something anyone can benefit from.
I really enjoyed the book. Fey was laugh-out-loud funny and I cried at times also. I could relate to her and her struggles growing up. It was great to see a different side of Fey considering she is a celebrity and we don’t often get to see that side of her it was a refreshing change. She even opened up about impersonating Sarah Palin and the fun, and struggles that went into it.
Overall I say this book was 4 ½ out of 5 stars. It is a fun and engaging read. It would be a great for summer read while sitting by the pool.
