St. Matthews Mall adds a Movie Theatre
Louisville’s newest theatre located at the end of Mall St. Matthews near Dillard’s, is sure to not disappoint; the Cinemark NextGen theatre has ten auditoriums, one of which is a Real 3D theatre. Wednesday May 15th was the grand opening night for the theatre. They were offering free drinks and popcorn at the door and were only offering two different show times. They had a variety of movies both old and new ranging from The Hunger Games to the newest Star Trek movie.
At the auditorium I saw GI Joe: Retaliation it was larger than any auditorium at Tinseltown or Baxter Ave Movie Theater. The auditorium size was similar to Stoneybrook Rave, though the main lobby of the theater was smaller than both Stoneybrook and Tinseltown. The theatre is new, with no stains on the seats, and clean bathrooms.
Keep in mind when attending this new movie theatre that, Friday and Saturday nights will be packed with teenagers. Parking for the theatre is behind the mall, not the front by Forever 21, and there is no mall entrance to the theatre. Even if you are running tad late to the movies, the front row seats in the auditorium still have a good view. Want to beat the crowds? The best time to go to the movies are Tuesday nights or any matinee showing.
